Running On Empty...

June 30, 2008

Who's running on empty......me or the car......BOTH! It has been a crazy weekend....in addition to the constant driving for my job this past week, both Pat and I logged some serious miles this weekend.....I don't even want to think about how much money we have spent on gas this week alone!

Early Saturday morning, Pat left for Buffalo, NY to go to a wedding.....friend of the family....I was a little bummed that I didn't get to go since his entire family was going to be there and we don't get to spend that much time with them, but since the kids were not invited, we thought it was best that I stay home.

While Pat was driving to Buffalo, I packed up both Nick and Sarah to meet my Aunt in Connecticut. Nick is going to spend the week with his cousin in Rhode Island, so we met half way in Darien, CT. We all ate lunch together and then Sarah and I got back in the car to make the trek back home.....I have to admit, I was a little nervous making the trip home by myself with Sarah.....she does not like to be confined to the car seat, or anything else for that matter, for a very long period of time. She was a total trooper.....Elmo once again saved the day, thanks to the portable DVD Player, Sarah was content for the entire ride....what would we do without technology!

By the time Sunday came around, I was dead on my feet.....still had to do the grocery shopping, laundry and cleaning....I dread going to the grocery store on the weekend....especially when I have to take Sarah along....it is never a quick trip in and out.

Now the countdown is on....in just 4 days we are having our 4th of July picnic...... we have somewhere in the neighborhood of 80 people coming.........I am starting to panic a little....I have a lot to do yet......but hey...at least Pat has the entertainment under control.....so now I need to add.....hire a paramedic and the fire department to make sure no one gets hurt, to my long list of things to do!

I need to pick up the pace and find some energy quickly.....oh yeah, and please pray for sunshine....I will even take a cloudy day, but please, please, please, no rain!

OK...What Next

Although we spent a lot of time in the car, we did squeeze in some playtime too! I got these photos Sunday afternoon....I am still playing around with some of the photo editing software.....I know they are not perfect, but I thought I would share them anyway. This was the hat that I just had to have on our last shopping spree.....so glad we bought it

Yes they are perfect!!! Sarah is adorable!!! I love the hat : ) I don't think we are doing anything on the 4th : ( The boys usually go with friends, maybe they will stop by for awhile. We have no family here in Chicago (man do I miss family). We may go up to the boat (Lake Geneva in WI) but it gets so crowded up there on the 4th...
Hope you gain a little bit of energy today : )

Lisa,

I love the edits you used on ths adorable photo of Sarah. What did you use to do it? I have been using Picasa, but am shopping for a more sophisticated program...but you mentioned having trouble with the one you bought...are you getting the hang of it??

The 4th party sounds like a real bang up time!! (sorry..couldn't resist!). I hope you can find the energy to see you through. I am suffering from lack of energy myself...well actually probably just flat out laziness. We are trying to get ready to spend another week away at my parents, so that gives me 4 days to get things in order here! Uggggg! I need about 14 days when you through in a 3 year old!! :-)

Hve a great week!

Your picnic on the 4th will be amazing~ being with friends always is. You will find the energy to get it all done, then you have Saturday and Sunday to recoup

Have a wonderful week~

Amen to that sista! When you find that energy, please let me know-I could use some, too. 80 people! Wow! What time would you like us to be over on the 4th? LOL!
Before we moved to Orlando, we used to live in Southbridge, MA. Just minutes from CT.
Best wishes,
Michaela

Those are gorgeous shots!!! Will you tell me how to do it???

I will pray for more energy for you but I would feel the same way! That is alot! Can you delegate some jobs for that party, get a housekeeper and have the grocery deliver????

IN the meantime, I think you are SUPERWOMAN!!!

Oh my goodness! You had a very busy weekend! Enjoy getting ready for your big 4th of July bash. I can't wait to see pictures!

I can totally relate to roadtrips with small children. Kamree gets really fussy and needs out after three hours. The DVD player does help a bit though!

P.S. The pictures of Sarah are absolutely adorable. You are doing such a great job with your new software! I am so computer challenged. It's a good thing I married an IT guy!

Wow, 80 people! That's awesome. I love entertaining too. This is the first year since we've lived in this house that we aren't hosting a huge 4th of July party. I decided to skip it this year. We are going to our neighbors house instead. Looks like you have a ton of fireworks. I sure hope you get a nice day--I'll say a prayer for NO RAIN!!!

You did a great job on the photo's of Sarah, she is adorable. I've just started playing around with the website piknic, it's fun. Can't wait to hear all about your party!!

Love the pictures!!! What program is that?
When my son was Sarah's age I dreaded taking him grocery shopping, it was such an ordeal, maybe because I hate grocery shopping and like to get out of there ASAP and a small kid will slow you down.
I was reading some of your older post a few days ago and we have something in common. My grandmother who was very special to me, name was Rose and that's why our daughter will be Emma Rose, to honor her.
