All Things Pumpkin!

September 29, 2008

Since the weather did not cooperate with us, we didn't get to go to the pumpkin patch.......

Nick was very disappointed becuase he will be with his Dad the next two weekends and was very excited about going to pick out his own pumpkin. He kept asking me if I thought it would stop raining....there was no chance, it poured all day!

We decided to do the next best thing.....go out and buy some pumpkins at the local nursery.....

My creation
Both kids concentrating on their creations!

The kids had a blast decorating and carving. As you can see....Sarah has not quite mastered pumpkin carving....she is into pumpkin coloring...what imagination!

The festivities only lasted about 45 minutes, so we decided to make some pumpkin bread....we love all things pumpkin in this house....bread, pie, cake, coffee, and even pumpkin ice cream...actually, that is my favorite!!

We tried a new recipe.......it is called Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

We are hoping one of these weekends we will luck out and get some good weather so we can visit the pumpkin patch....but until then, we have a great jack-o-lantern sitting at our front door....compliments of Nick!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

Sorry to hear the weather didn't cooperate for you this weekend. However, you certainly made lemonade out of lemons. It looks like both kids had a great time! I especially love Sarah's colored pumpkin. I am sure we will have one of those too!

Enjoy your pumpkin bread this week. It looks delicious!

So glad to see that Nick was able to do some pumpkin carving even though you had rainy weather! He did an awesome job! Sarah's pumpkin reminds me of Maddy's creations when she was younger!

Have a great week. Yum -- pumpkin bread!

BOO too bad it rained, but you got to dig into some sweet bread and slimy "pumpkin guts" (as we call them) a nice day after all:)

Looks like a fun weekend even with the rain. It has actually been really nice here. The mosquitos make it hard to go outside, but the temp. has been nice.

Have a great week!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread-sounds yummy! I like all things pumpkin, too, but I haven't tried the icecream yet. We haven't bought pumpkins yet. It's still so hot and humid here and I'm afraid the pumpkins won't hold up very well outside.
I can't believe it's already Monday :-(
Take care - best wishes,
Michaela

If you're interested, I have a chocolate pumpkin muffin recipe on my blog...It's in the "In the Kitchen With Amy" link on my side bar. You may already have the recipe, but if not, you will more than likely love it.
Do your kids like to watch "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown?"

I ended up buying our pumpkins at our whole foods store. They are still pretty and nicely displayed on our front porch. Livi helped me set up the hay (I hate hay but it looks cute with the pumpkins). I love pumpkin too!!! I have a yummy pumpkin bread recipe but I have to find it...it may be Christmas by the time I find it LOL

I tried Pumpkin Bread for the first time last year... oh that stuff is truly delicious... I am afraid if I made some it would be eaten by me in 6 seconds... alas I don't really make stuff cause hubby doesn't like to eat 'orange' things... it is no fun making stuff on your own!
