Black and White Wednesday - "The Dymamic Duo"

May 19, 2010

the long road

Friday afternoon Sarah and I were getting ready to run a few errands. I was still in my office finishing up my work for the day and she was patiently waiting for me in the foyer. She was sitting at the bottom of the staircase and looked adorable, so I grabbed my camera.

When I downloaded those photos, I really LOVED all the cool angles of the staircase behind her........

I am not quite ready to share those pictures....they are coming next week, but that little 10 minute session indoors with Sarah was what inspired me to take Nick outdoors and photograph him on the staircase of our deck.

Nick granted me "twenty minutes and only twenty minutes" of picture taking. I posted the color version of this on Monday along with all the others, but I really liked it in black and white too!! I still cannot get over how much he has grown these last few months.....we are closing in on 13 years of age......say it isn't so!!

After a few minutes out there with Nick, a certain little three year old was beginning to look a tad jealous that her brother was in the "spotlight" and she was not.....so she asked if she could get in the pictures too!!

She quickly jumped into Nicky's lap and of course I did the happy dance because usually I have to beg and bribe to get the two of them together........but not this glorious day:)

Here are the "Dynamic Duo" hamming it up for the camera........

Nicky, close your eyes...and I will tell you a little secret!!

Just wait Nicky....soon there will be two of us trying to share "the spotlight" with you:)

UPDATE: A few of you have commented on the processing or the vintage feel of this week's pictures. I should have added this last night, but forgot..... I processed them in black and white first, then added a Cappucinno Overlay to achieve this look.......all thanks to Florabella Textures and Actions!! If you haven't checked them out yet, make sure that you do:)

OMG... these are precious! Oh how I wish my little ones would stay still long enough so I could take a few of them together.

How can it be that your son is going to be 13 soon? It cannot be possible! He is truly growing into such a handsome young man. I'm so glad you're going to experience the teenage years before me so you can clue me into all the craziness beforehand. Please take plenty of notes so I can be prepared. ;-)

Hugs...

These are precious Lisa. I love the one where Sarah is whispering in Nick's ear. Oh....edible!!!

These have such a nice vintage feel to them. Can't wait to see the others you took inside on the stairs. (I love stair pictures - don't know why.)

Happy Wednesday!
xoxo

How I love watching these two together. They remind me so much of my babies who share the same distance in age as N&S.

Beautiful processing, as always, but my favorite is by far the one of Sweet Sarah telling Nicky a secret and his face clearly allowing her to believe that she has 100% of his attention.

How fortunate these two are to go through life side by side...and yes, their little baby sister will add the 3rd Dimension to this beautiful Dynamic Duo...soon, my friend...very, very soon!

Wow, great job. You can really feel that these photos are made with love. I especially like the one where nick closes his eyes.

I too love how your pictures capture Sarah's adoring love for Nick, and his "tolerant" love for her!
Isn't it funny how a younger sibling can lighten the moments for an older one?
Your black and white wall is filling up!

What an absolutely darling post...brought tears to my eyes :)

Oh, I noticed the changes in your boy before I even got to your discussion of it. Wow, isn't it amazing parenting these children! I hadn't realized that we had boys so close in age...Billy and Nick have such different looks, it just didn't process.

Teens! How could we be moms of teens ;)

That is such a crack-up , many of my friends are becoming grandmothers. I rejoice that at 45 I am still savoring these young children.

( I am doing much better enjoying them now that they have stopped the crazy bickering and fighting!
Thankfully, I always had faith that they would settle down, but after 6 months or so, I was losing my mind.)

We will be off to Seattle in just days...just Brian and I and I could not be more delighted to get a nice time with just to two of us! Yeah!

When I opened your blog today and looked at the quality of your photos I just sat and admired.

I do hope your business is blossoming! I think that you can be (if you not already are) one of the highest paid photographers in your region! You are truly gifted.

:)

Have a great week!
