Black and White Wednesday - "Getting Ready"

July 14, 2010

Catherine Pandora and Glam BLOG

How on earth is it already the middle of July.....Is this summer flying or what?

Well as per usual, life is crazy busy around here and my first workshop weekend is quickly approaching!! I am super excited as are the ladies coming to town next week:)

I have spent the last month and a half working very diligently to plan out every last detail of this weekend so that everything runs smoothly and so every one of these ladies walks away feeling like they have learned A LOT!!!

Catherine BW Mink BLOG 2

When I decided to go ahead and do this, I didn't really think of all the logistics that were involved.......

The first thing I did was set up a database for all those attending so we could share information and post questions or concerns.

Then I started on the accomodations......I had to get lodging at the hotel set up for 17 people.

Make sure that everyone had a way to get to and from their airport of choice(which means three different airports in the tri state area).

Dinner reservations for Friday and Saturday nights.

Set up conference rooms and made breakfast accomodations for both Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Put together a schedule for our whole weekend so everyone knew what to expect.

Made more than a few phone calls and lined up some BEAUTIFUL Models for the shooting portion of the workshop......

Fading Fence BLOG

If you haven't guessed, these two pretty ladies will be modeling for us....along with 5 other fantastic people!!

I am so thrilled with the line up I have for Saturday. In addition to these girls, we have an adorable little boy who is is a professional model/actor.......a gorgeous husband and wife team that are wearing their wedding attire.......and two beautiful women who are no strangers to the camera!!

I have just about everything done except one of the most important things....... I need to dump everything that is in my brain onto paper and get everything printed out and put into a binder for each person attending the workshop. Even though I have a really good start.....I still have a lot of work to do.

So why am I telling you this? I am now officially in total workshop mode....and probably will be right up until I sadly say goodbye to these ladies Sunday afternoon as we all go our separate ways!!

I am anxious, excited, and {a little nervous}......I know it will be a fantastic weekend......but I am a worrier and will fret about all the things that are out of my control.....like the weather!! Say a little prayer that the sun is shining and that the rain stays away!

Hope you all have a wonderful week......you may not see me around much....but I will at the very least get a post up next Wednesday:)

All the pictures posted today were processed with the newly released Florabella Luxe Actions. They are INCREDIBLE.....as is all of her other actions and textures.

Beautiful models, can't wait to see the after weekend shots.

Have a great workshop. They are a lot of work but so worthwhile.

I was reading this quote from David Jay the other day: Invest in people and you will never run out of business. I guess that is exactly what you are doing. You go girl.

Have a fantastic week. xxx

I loved your post from last week. I've always loved Trumpette loafers. I loved how you keep them on your desk...so sweet.

I also used a new Florabella Luxe action on my b and w post today (used London but kept the background b and w)

You are going to do an amazing job at your workshop. I'm so sad I won't be able to meet everyone and see you in action first hand. I know our time will come to meet in one day soon. Maybe this fall.

Take lots of deep breathes and don't work too hard. Everything will fall into place. I'm very confident your weekend will be loads of fun for you and your attendees.

So WISH I was one of the 17! :) I know it will be fabulous. Maybe you could do some online workshops for us that can't travel especially since I will have a new little one in August. I am so excited to hear how it goes... I pray you get it all ready and the sun shines perfectly for your shoots and when all is said and done, you are closer to your precious one waiting for you in China!!!
Blessings!

As a Golden Ticket holder and one of the very Lucky 17, I can't wait for next weekend! Yep, you're gonna rock it...but then, you always do.
You've organized everything down to the last detail and I know each of the girls are so grateful for all the behind the scenes work you've been doing to make this weekend an extra special one for all of us.
I've got the DitaMobile all fired up and ready to roll to pick up the 4 in my posse and meet the rest of our photo gals in Bethlehem...perhaps a little star will guide us.

So excited to learn, to be together and to meet all our new friends.

Lisa I just know your workshop will be fantastic and all the ladies attending will be so blessed to learn from you!

I love Florabella and I used the b&w actions on my post this week. I'm trying to process more on my own instead of relying on my actions but I might have to check those new ones out!

I will keep my fingers crossed for some incredible weather for your workshop! Hugs~

I'm so impressed with all of the effort and attention to detail that you're putting into this, Lisa! But don't worry about it. It's going to be perfect and FUN! Seriously, I can't even promise that I'll be as good a student as you are a teacher!

We just got back from Rome last weekend and next weekend we're flying to San Diego. Then I'm flying to YOU the weekend after that! Phew! What a crazy busy summer so far!

See you soon!

Lisa,

I am sure it is overwhelming the first time you do something like this. I can identify in other ways. However, your preparation, research, skill, talent hard-work and sincerity will shine through. I think if you have the talent and integrity (and you do) and you truly have people's best interests at heart (and you do) and are organized and prepared (and you are) to teach them, it will be INCREDIBLE. When these workshops/seminars have not gone well is when some of that stuff was missing.

I have taken about 5 or 6 different seminars/workshops from all different instructors and from the participant view...to me the most important things are that the teacher is organized and stays on task and is utmost professional and helpful. Oh and in one seminar, the teacher shot more the students did. It was so frustrating. I could not get near the models because the instructor was always shooting. Not that I think that would happen at all.... but just sharing.

Best best wishes for lots of success and fun!!! I SO wish I could be here. I have really considered it. Harry has the national championships for Judo that weekend:)

Lisa, you seem to be the most organized person I know and are so on top of things!! You are going to do an outstanding job, I am sure of it!! I wish I were spending the weekend with you and the Lucky 17. I can't wait to hear all about it and see all of the beautiful pictures!! Best of luck!!

Hoping your weekend was a HUGE success (and I'm certain it was!) and that you were able to relax and enjoy it as well.

Thanks for the heads up ~ I still don't know what happened. They haven't gotten back to me. I'm slowing reloading the photos as my husband noticed that the codes have all been changed. Hmmm ...

Take another peek when you have a free moment :)
