Barre Work

Backlit Reagan BLOG
Could this be the face of NYC Ballet's next prima ballerina?

Future Ballerina BLOG
That might be a stretch(no pun intended), but she is showing some early signs of interest.
Take a look her "barre work"

Future Ballerina Collage One BLOG
Future Ballerina Collage Two BLOG
Reagan(or maybe I should call her LL Cool J with her uneven pant legs)was bound and determined to get her leg up on the "barre" and was not going to give up without a fight.

Future Ballerina Collage Three BLOG
SWEET SUCCESS!

Her makeshift ballet barre is really the foot rest to our "bar"
I took these pictures Sunday afternoon after a little floor tea party broke up between the girls. That is why you see miscellaneous plates and spoons at Reagan's feet. I'll post those pictures later this week.

Barre Work at the Orphanage BLOG
The day we met her in Changsha, we were handed a bag that contained everything we had sent in her carepackage while we were waiting for our travel approval. One of those items was a disposable camera so as soon as we returned to the states, we had the film developed.

Most of the photos were of the orphanage itself, there were a few of her playing, and then there were a few of her standing at this ballet barre against the mirrors in the big playroom. We saw this room the day we visited Chenzhou. It was a very clean and spacious and we were told that Reagan and the other babies her age, went to the playroom everyday between 9 & 11am and then again between 3 & 5pm to get their exercise.

My guess is that our "bar" brought back some memories of the "barre" in Chenzhou!

Anyone else think that ballet lessons might be in her future?

Lisa - this is so adorable!! Yes, she is a determined little one. I love that little "I can do it!" spirit in her. It is so evident in all your pictures. And I love that these pictures show how petite she must be, considering this is the foot bar. So cute!!!

Thanks girls!! This little tutu skirt came with the pants attached and there are even knee pads built in. Baby Gap thinks of everything, don't they?

My favorite photo is the second from last in the series of six. DETERMINED is an understatement...LOL!

Hope you all have a great Monday~

Oh, I know this touches your heart in a special way, Lisa. And - truly - it's precious no matter what one's occupation is. Because Reagan? Is adorable. And yes, maybe possibly a future ballerina.

Uh-huh! Definately a prima ballernina in the making. (Must make her dancing mama so proud.)

I can't get over how she has grown so much. These pictures are just delightful - every one of them Lisa. You had me at first though. I really thought you had installed a mini barre, just for her.

We're so lucky to have those early pictures from their orphanages. They really add to the whole beginning puzzle. Can't wait to see more.

Stay warm and safe, my friend!

It's a darling series. I am sure there must be a little ballet in her future. She is clearly sending you a message.

I wish I hadn't waited so long to enroll my youngest in gymnastics. She has been begging me for so long and now when I see her at the lessons, she is clearly on Cloud 9.

Wow, how cute!! So glad she had an exercise room at her orphanage (AA didn't have any and could barely walk at two years old). Sweet Reagan is a joy to see photo by photo.

Those facial expressions are priceless! Amazing how you always manage to get the perfect pictures at the perfect time and moment - sigh, if only... And yes, the leggings and tutu and kneepads: just perfect, but so are the shoes and the barre and the flower bow and your daughter! And hurray for the exercise room in China, and the secret pictures taken - what great treasures for Reagan! (ps she still reminds me of my daughter, climbing on top and over things, and once she has her mind set on doing something, she will, all by herself, no help needed thank you very much)

Why of course she will!!!Look at that stamina!!!

This post just made me cry tears of happiness. I cannot believe the strides this gorgeous, courageous child has made in such a short time.

I will never forget the day you arrived off that plane and every single day from then on I marvel at the life that unfolds in front of Reagan.

How lucky we are to witness it.....the colors and the lighting here were absolutely breathtaking!
