WOWSA, it has been some week!
It has taken me the last five days to come down from the workshop weekend "high".
The weekend was SO MUCH FUN and went so well. I am not sure I can begin to even put into words how wonderful it was to see this group of ladies come together for this photography experience.
Our models were TOP NOTCH, ALL OF THEM, the ladies participating were unbelievable, and I had the best assistant in the whole wide world. I could not have pulled off instructing a group of this size without her, so THANK YOU MARIA, for all that you did this weekend to help me out. You were literally my right arm and I would have been sunk without you.
There was no way I could put everything into one post, so I have decided to break this up into a series of posts.
We had 5 stylized shoots on Saturday, and the Triplets were our last shoot of the day, on location about 30 minutes north of the hotel where the workshop took place. Those of you that prayed for the weather... IT WORKED, the day could not have been more perfect. A beautiful 70 degrees and SUNNY!!!
Along with all of the lovely shots we took of our beautiful models, there are SO MANY behind the scenes moments.
I definitely want to share those with you as well so you can truly see what it was like to be there with us.
At times it was quite chaotic with a group of 18, but everyone rallied and worked together to make this weekend run smoothly.
Our schedule was tight with no time to spare for dilly dallying or relaxing, it was a GO GO GO kind of workshop.
(the ladies can surely attest to that) We had two emergencies that cropped up on Saturday afternoon, that left me feeling frantic for more than a few minutes, but we worked through them. One of our girls got hit with food poisoning about 20 minutes after lunch. Thankfully, one of the other girls was carrying Charcoal Pills from a health food store and they worked like magic and cured the food poisoning right before our eyes. If I had not seen it, I probably would not have believed it. She was literally down for the count, took these pills and within minutes was beginning to feel better. The EMS was on the scene, because it was that bad when it started, but after about 30 minutes, she was up and walking around again. Phew..... she gave me quite a scare.
After we recovered from that, we all hopped on a bus that took us up to the orchard where I was put to the test again. While we were having the time of our lives shooting the beautiful trio out in the middle of the field, our bus was asked to move so the orchard bus could get through. He ignored what the staff told him to do and literally turned right into a swamp where he got stuck and basically left us stranded in the orchard. I had to think fast and make other arrangements to get us out of there. It was late and we saw the sun come down at 7pm making us late for our dinner reservations, but it all worked out. It was just a tiny bump in our weekend, but it did not put a damper on our day and our time together. It just makes for a colorful, well rounded story to go along with our photos.
As we were leading up to our weekend, I was talking on our private group to the girls about how anxious and nervous I was about all of the small details that I worked so hard to put together surrounding this weekend. One of the ladies said that she had sort of hoped everything did not go according to plan, so that she could see how I handle little unexpected things that crop up on a shoot. Well she certainly go her wish, and it was more than a wardrobe malfunction, but we got through it all and I believe that everyone was more than thrilled with our weekend together.
Enough about the details, I did not shoot near as much as the group did, because as you just read, I sort of had my hands full at times, but I did snap when I could. Here are just a few of my favorites from our last session in the Apple Orchard with the darling triplets:
I started at the end of our day and am working backwards in my photos, so I still have a few more models to share with you next week. I also plan to share photos that were taken by the girls who participated in the workshop!! Prepare to be amazed.
They are knocking my socks off!!
PS. If you missed out on this photography weekend and would like to attend something like this in the future, I am heading to Georgia at the end of a February as a guest speaker at the Savvy Studio. There are only a few seats left. Click HERE for more details!!
