Keeping It Real

June 11, 2009

I've realized that as my blog has evolved and my love of photography has taken over, I have gotten away from posting those spur of the moment, funny, candid type of photos that show my kids in their element.....just being kids:) So in the spirit of "Keeping it Real" I give you silly photos of a recent outing.

Wednesday was Nick's last day of school and it was also my friend Ivy's birthday. School was dismissed at 10am, so Sarah and I picked him up and then we headed South to visit Ivy and her daughter Kira. We all had lunch together and then headed to a nearby park. Nick was a good sport and really did enjoy himself while playing big brother to the two little ones. Kira just adored him and followed him wherever he went and called him by name.....it was too cute for words.

Keeping it realwm
The kids had a great time exploring, but once they spotted this water fountain, the real fun began.

Keeping it real 2wm
The girls were not strong enough to push the lever that activated the water, so Nick had to help out.

Keeping it real 3wm
Nick decided to have a little fun at the girls expense......water flying everywhere!! When they were least expecting it, he hit the lever:) Even though it looks like Sarah is ready to lick the fountain, I promise you her tongue never touched it...EWWWW

Keeping it real 4wm
When we finally ripped them away from the fountain they picked a couple flowers and ran circles around each other til they dropped....I snapped this one and was lucky enough to barely catch them both in the frame.....but thought it was so cute!!

I know I said I was keeping it real, but I had to sneak in at least one portrait style photo.....Sweet Kira looked straight at me with that pretty little smile and I couldn't resist!!

So, our summer has officially started......We are planning lots of little outings/playdates and some day trips. We are not taking any major vacations this summer, but we are planning at least one trip to Cape Cod. Can't go the entire summer without having your feet hit the sand:)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Glad you added that Sarah's tongue didn't make contact. Double yuk!

I don't know how many times I've almost grabbed Dahlia's head for fear of contact - and I'm not really a germ-o-phobe but fountains......ugh.

Sweet pictures. Do you carry a purse camera or always use your good stuff? And speaking of good stuff - have you ever posted about your equipment. If so, just lead me to the right place but if not - s'pose you could sometime?

:-)

Awh, what a fun post Lisa!

We had the best time with you three! Kira still looks at the pictures and says NickNE and See(Sarah). I almost have the same pics. The girls were just too fast, next for our bag is a fast sports lens LOL!

Well, great post. I'll chat with you tomorrow.

Hugs,

Ivy

As much as I love the more posed shots, I ADORE candids. You captured Nick, Sarah and Kira so well Lisa...I'm not surprised though, you are one talented photographer. Love the one of Sarah looking up at Nick and the light in his hair.

Hope we can talk today, I'll be around as far as I know. My kids are still asleep(I'm shocked) but hey...it's Summer! yay!

Blogs are fluid - they reflect the interests of the time. Readers may come and go, but you'll always be the one writing (or shooting), so create for yourself! Loved seeing Kira in your photos, too. Happy Birthday, Ivy!

As usual, your photos are amazing! Nick is such a little love! I can see those girls have him wrapped around their little fingers, though!

Sounds like a wonderful summer ahead. We need to get a date on the calendar to have both our gangs finally meet!
I think our boys would have so much fun together.

Great candid shots, Lisa!! It is too sweet how both girls are looking up at Nick in such sincere adoration. Soccer shmocker... he's a real hero in their eyes!!

Have a great week!!

Once again, beautiful photographs. I was just telling my husband about you the other night...how fabulous you've gotten at taking pictures and I hope I can too someday! Love the title of this post too because that's the kind of photographs I like best, the real every day snapshots...the ones that tell a story. They can be harder to capture than I thought! Hope you are enjoying the start of summer. Take care!

Water fountain play...so fun for kiddos, isn't it? My Miss Priss did that at the hotel the other day (we were visiting family that came in town to see Dad) and didn't even get in the pool once~ just hung out at the fountain!!!
Love the pics you caught of this fun time.
I bet Nick is thrilled that school is out. Bryce sure is!
He has VBS this week, 3 nights of baseball games, one night of soccer tryouts and one night off.
I need COFFEE!
Love ya, will catch up this week, k?
