Black and White Wednesday - "The Vacant Lot"

April 21, 2010

the long road

I took Sarah out to the vacant lot across the street from our house again. This might be one of my all time favorite backdrops for photos...... I do love the old stone park that I frequent, but this barn cannot be beat!!

Spring Wind Cosmo Quote WM

This weekend the weather was not very cooperative as it was extremely cool and windy, but I was able to at least capture one photo before the wind got the best of us:)

Spring Wind Cosmo BW QUOTE WM

I do love both photos, but I really prefer the full color over the black and white....... the colors are so soft and muted, it almost reminds me of a paiting!!

Okay, gotta run....have to keep this post short and sweet. Believe it or not, I am traveling again on business. This time I am in Louisville, Kentucky for a Sales Training. Life is busy to say the least......but busy is good and I am not going to complain.

Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday and a fantastic week. I will be stopping by to check out your photos this weekend when I return home:)

Well, the color photo is gorgeous (as always) so I'm sure the black and white totally rocks. But I can't see it because it said I don't have permission to view this photo.

That backdrop is lovely. I have a thing for barns so this really works for me. And I love the sweet little bench that Sarah is sitting on. Perfect for photos in a field!

Lisa,

You're right. The colored one does look like an old painting. Beautiful in blk&wh too.

Wow, what a setting. It's so cool that you have so many great moments captured in this very spot. I love that.

Travel well friend.

I love both. The color one feels so vintage, even the color of your daughter's sweater. Stay safe.

Yippee! I see the black and white now! :)

oh Lisa...this one is down right BREATHTAKING!! I especially love it in color. There is something very calming and nostalgic about it... very much like a painting, indeed.

Have a safe week of travels and God bless! <><

love,
Tanya

P.S.>> we finally got our TA. In just 3 short weeks I will be somewhere over the Pacific at this very hour, on my way to our daughter! Thank you JESUS!!! :)

OH, I agree with TanyaLea...the color one is PERFECTION. As much as I love B&W, the processing and the textures and every little thing about this image just calls out to me.

Yes, this amazing backdrop of the Barn will be a fixture in the childhood memories of your beauties.

Hope you are enjoying every single minute of your trip...especially the part where you're sharing wonderful moments with some of your very favorite people!

Have fun and come home safe!

Well, it seems like we both were in the mood for futuring barns this week! LOL!! I have my picture ready a few days ago, and that it exactly what I had picked but this picture is way better than mine! It really is and awesome photo!

I love this set of pictures. I really like it in color because the barn in the back drop and the colors are just right. Reminds me of Oklahoma

Great photos. I love Sarah's hair! It is so great that you have a beautiful backdrop so close. I need to get some good black and whites for a post next week.

Oh so lovely Lisa! Your photography is gorgeous, as is your model and location! Really like the words you added to the photo as well!

Hope your trip is a good one!

I prefer the colored one over the black and white one as well, not to say that they aren't both beautiful. But, like you said the color picture just seems to paint a picture.

I love the color one too. The colors are so dreamy. Oh how I wish I had such beautiful scenery across from my house. All I have is my neighbors home. Not so good for photo taking.

Hope you have a fabulous time on your business trip. Safe travels...

Of course, anything you touch is perfection! But I do love the color version a tad bit better as well! If I had that lovely sleepy barn at my disposal, I would make the most of it too! Unfortunately, all I have to work with these days are cityscape, which is not bad, but I do like the homey feel of the "country"side.

Sugar Cookies And Hope said...

WOW! They both look so dreamy and spectacular.

Oh, I like both. The B&W has a nice vintage feel, but the color, as you say, looks like it could be a painting. There's an old barn within walking distance of our house ... I wonder if I could convince the owner to let me use it for photos sometimes? The backdrop of a barn really does make for a great shot!

What a fabulous lot and a perfect place to take pictures! I love this picture and I especially love Sarah's new "shorter" do!

Hope you had a great time with the gang last night!

Amazing pictures! I love them both!

Both are beautiful, but the color one is my fav! It looks like an impressionist painting in my opinion. It would be lovely on canvas. :)

And have a great rest of your week.

That's a beautiful picture! Just like a fake background!

Both color and B&W are lovely, but think I am also voting for the color! Beautiful scene and beautiful girl! Have a great trip!

I know just what you mean about the weekend weather! I had such high hopes for some nice shoots. : ( I loved the overcast skies but I could have totally done without the wind! : )

Safe travels!

I think both of these shots are amazing... I like the capture of the wind blowing a little - very nice.

I really like both of these, but the color version has such a soft and dreamy effect, with the pastels. Great capture!

Lisa,

Link #34 for me was incorrect. It linked to an old black and white post. #38 is just fine :)

wow, what a great photo! I love the barn and the flowers on the ground, and of course your gal looks so endearing. we visited the stone park a few weeks ago and I was thinking that we were so lucky to have it to play and explore! Beautiful shot!

I know i keep saying it but your daughter and your photography are just stunning. I like the Bandw but the color is a cover for a magazine. What a great backdrop and your daughters expression is priceless

I am so jealous of your talent. That color shot is so stunning. If it were mine, I would have it enlarged, printed on canvas and framed for my wall. And not just any wall, but the best wall in the house!

Sweet!

Went there a few times while in college in Huntington, WV at Marshall University: just a hop-skip-jump away.
Yes..."busy" is good. :)
As long as it's "busy" with the "right" things; "right" things being God-ordained tasks. :)
Am with you, the color is BY FAR my fave.
Would LOVE to borrow that barn and field some time. ;)
Have a blessed week!

Did you try a sepia tone? I think that would be really neat and give it that old timey look. It's gorgeous either way.

You're right, the color one does look like a painting but they are both beautiful photos!

Absolutely, the color one trumps the B&W this time. Such soothing colors...
