In Search Of Perfection....Take Two!

November 23, 2008

The plan was to wait until our trip to Cape Cod next week to give it one more try for the Christmas card photo, but it was really sunny today and I was in the mood, so we headed out to location number two!
nas
This shot was taken today and I posted the shot from last week to compare below! I want your thoughts and opinions on both of these shots. Do you like one better than the other....if so, tell me which one you would use.

I had a little fun with Nick. He was super cooperative today....and I could probably use any of these....too bad I can't get Sarah to sit like this....maybe next year!

I love this one of Sarah running through the park. The one below just cracks me up....she left Nick in the dust!

I tried setting up these two shots as suggested by The Pixel Fairy Princess. Obviously, I didn't master exactly how she told me to set it up, but I like the idea and I am going to try something along these lines up on The Cape in the sand....I think the kids need to be closer, they are too far back. I also think I like just the greens, no Nutcracker....any thoughts or opinions here??

I always love these shots of them walking away....I especially liked these old doors in the background! This location was incredible, it was an old Iron Funace Building that now has become a park. Needless to say, we will be going back SOON...the wheels are turning in my head!

Okay, so leave me a comment with your thoughts and opinions!!, I am cutting it close and will need to make a decision by next week!

These last few days have been a whirlwind around here. We just got done cleaning up from Sarah's little family bday party....we all had a great time! I will be posting pictures in a day or two...right now I am too tired!
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

What beautiful shots!!

I think they are all beautiful! But if I had to pick one..I would say the first one, just because you can see them both...and they look so snuggly.:)

I also love the ones of them walking away....There is something so touching in those pictures.

I'm no help, am I? Sorry...your kids are just so cute, and your pictures are all beautiful.

God Bless,
Amy:)

Glad today went well! I've been thinking about you. I know you must be zonked. You know I love the first one and the one of the holly in the foreground and the one of Sarah running and the one of Nick sitting and the one of...

HA! I love them all! Hugs sweet girl. Go to bed : )

These turned out great! I still like the second one.

This location looks fabulous. I love all of the brick. It looks like Nick really cooperated well for you.

Can't wait to see what you decide to do!

I like the first two for Christmas cards. I like the 3rd one of Nick - it's great! And the one of her running toward you - with her red hands and nose!!! I like the one of their backs, too. They're all good, Lisa!

I think I visited that same place a very long time ago, when we lived in PA. Does it have a big water wheel?

Cyndi said...

here are my thoughts the second one with the red background, AMAZING!!! Love it, it just screams Christmas card for sure, if you could use the last one of them walking away on the back that would be great. Have fun making up your mind that will be a hard one.

Okay,First let me say, that I love all of them!
I am a fan of the multi photo/collage Christmas Cards. So I would use the 1st, 2nd and then the one of them walking away...That is just me :) Sorry I could not help you more....Hope you get some rest!

I'm with Jennifer, use more than one!! They're all gorgeous, but I especially love the one of them nose to nose and the walking away pic.

Great photos...
I would have to say that I LOVE the one of them looking at each other.. but also love picture number 1... Have a Great Week.
Love ya girly..

Your Nick is so darn compliant, it is amazing!!

I love the red door picture. It shows how much they really love each other..it doesn't matter that it isn't "head on" (I think)

I LOVe the picture with the archway in the background, the kids the middle and just the greenery in the forefront. I am with you..I like just the greenery for this one!!

I like the second one they just look more natural than in the first - less posed. However the first one is GREAT if you want a more formal shot. God they're both so beautiful and you find such wonderful locations, how can you possibly go wrong!

Jboo said...

Hmmmm -- I really like all of them -- great job Lisa! And that Nick -- he's such a cutie -- is your phone ringing off the hook with girls calling him??? Good luck on deciding!

Have a great week!

I love the red door pic the best. It seems so spontaneous. The look on their faces as they gaze into each other's eyes is just priceless. And that whole Eskimo nose thing is adorable.

Oh my Heck!!! I don't know if I could chose... all of them are so adorable! I don't know how you can get more perfect pictures!!!

Hi Lisa,
You are amazing at photography! Well, it's a close call they are all so beautiful, however, my personal favorite is the second one, nose to nose siblings! Very candid, warm and the backdrop makes you think you're going on a sled driven horse ride...don't I have an imagination.

The children are precious, the photo of the garland without the Nutcracker is also my runner up fav.!

Will you do mine:))

hugs,

Ivy

Hi Lisa!

What great picutes! You will have to let me know where that place is.

I LOVE the one with the holly up close and the kids holding hands in the distance...love, love, love it!!!

Have a great week and hopefully we can get together soon!

Catherine said...

Oh Lisa! So many beautiful pics! I think of the first ones my fave is the second pic with the kids nose to nose.

I kinda like the addition of the nutcracker but at the same time I wonder if it draws too much attention so maybe it's better without.

What a beautiful location to take pictures! You're doing so well with your camera! I really need to take time to learn how to use my camera out of the 'auto' setting.

So many great pics Lisa!

I've never posted on your blog until today, but I honestly think there isn't a picture of yours that I haven't liked. However, I really like the pics of the two kids rubbing noses. It's just adorable!

Shelly and Family said...

I think both photos of the two kids look great. The first one is a really beautiful posed shot of the two kids while the second is also great because you "caught" them at the perfect moment - laughing. (why don't you do something using the first photo as the main photo and add the second photo into the mix...just making it smaller. I also think you need to add the one of them walking away...that photo is amazing!) OK...as you can see I am no help! (I alone took over 500 photos for our card this year and I only had a "few" shots to chose from...if it wasn't Francesca, it was Annabelle, and if it wasn't her, it was the dog lol!) It is going to be interesting to see what you have planned for up at the Cape & what your final decision will be...

(whatever it is, I so know it will be amazing!)

Chasing Dreams Photography said...

My favorite is the one where they are face to face...#2. The pictures are all adorable! You can do what I did and I put one picture in the middle of both girls and then a single picture of each to each side of the one together. I will post our card later. I always have our boys in the card but this year they are just all over the place..I plan to take a picture of the boys on Thanksgiving and order 100 or so and stick that picture in the Christmas card...life is nutty right now.

Briana's Mom said...

Gosh this is HARD! All the pics are so amazing!

I am still in love with the second one where they are looking in each other's eyes. It tugs at my heartstrings!

Hey I forgot to add...stop by my blog and look at how Livi fell asleep last night LOL She was truly meant for this nuthouse!s

I love the first one, that would be a great card. All the pictures are beautiful!!!!!

The job is going well, Just adjusting to all the chaos of being a boss again, and trying to keep things in perspective and not fall into old patterns.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love,
Kathryn

The first one, no, the second one...no, the first one....cripes, I'm glad this isn't my decision! I love the second one because it is so natural looking, but the first one is very Christmas cardish.

Nick could be posing for a catalogue! Great shots...all of them!

Denise said...

I love, love, love the picture in front of the red door!

jenbusymom said...

I'm with Jodee, I still like the second one too! Great location, love the old buildings like that. I can't wait to see the card either!

Brandi said...

I personally like the 2nd one better. The eskimo kiss thing is adorable and they just look so "natural"

The bottom ones with the kids in the background and the greenery in front are AWESOME!!!

And I have to agree with everyone else....that location is BEAUTIFUL!

Good luck choosing!

Kate said...

Wow!! Great shots!!! You really can't go wrong with any of them...but since you asked for a vote...I like the second one....from the first photo shoot!!! That is such a clear winner to me!!! And I forgot to mention when yu posted these last week how much Nick looks like you in profile!!! Too cute!!

Wowee Lisa! Your take #2 is great! I love that location so much!
I agree~ I love the green just by themselves. What neat pics!
I'm really digging the pic of Nick and Princess Sarah where they're nose to nose. I just think those candid ones are so special and true!
Are you having cards printed from a site or doing it yourself where you can only use one pic? If you're using a site you can see about a layout that incorporates more than one photo and then you don't have to narrow it all down since there are some fun ones hun!
Happy week to you~ Les

It's a tough call. I like them both.
Can you incorporate both pictures in the card? Just a thought...We had that done last year (because we couldn't decide which picture to use) and it came out really nice.
Hugs,
Michaela

HI my friend, I'm back! Thanks for your sweet message! You sure are a gem of a friend! : )

Personally, I LOVE the one of the two with their heads touching all in red and I love the one with the nutcracker and the two holding hands and looking towards each other.

Whatever you pick...I just know that your card will be BEAUTIFUL, you have so many great pictures to choose from. The pictues of Nick are gorgeous!

Just in case I was too confusing..#2 and #9 are my fav's, but #2 is my absolute FAVORITE! : )

They are all wonderful, but my favorite is #2 with the red background. So sweet with them touching noses, it shows how much they love each other. You are very talented Lisa. BTW Nick is so handsome!

Hi Lisa,
I am just catching up. What an amazing location!! A photographer's dream, as are your two subjects. I think they are all great, but I am in love with the second one. I just think it is so precious. You can't go wrong with either, though.

Happy Belated Birthday to Sarah!!

My vote is for number 2, although that first one is cute too!

Belinda said...

Hey Lisa,
I love the first one. In the one with the kiddo's fadeing in the back I say no nutcracker.. Just my opinion. I also really love the one of Sara running and nick sitting down.. I say pick a christmas card that you can have three pictures in and do Sara running, nick sitting and them walking away holding hands.. You are getting really good at your photography!
on a side note yes I did not got to Guatemala.. I am afraid to fly and edward was only 5 months and did not want to leave him yet...
Happy Thanksgiving!

Wow. The pictures are ALL beautiful. I love the way you closed the day with them walking away. Tough choices here. I am thinking #2. My reasons are first, I love the playfulness, journalistic style. The shot made me smile. Second, the red door, saturated color is awesome. I can see it on a light gold/tan card with the red really popping. My second idea would be doing a mini collage - 2 shots. Casual Nick (the mature older brother) standing # 4 (love that brick) and Sarah (#6) running.. silly and two years old. You can't go wrong with any of them. Happy Thanksgiving. Tara
