WE FINALLY HAVE REAGAN!!!!

October 18, 2010

Reagan Day 8

We arrived in Chansha last night at 6:30pm and met our guide Susan at the airport. She and the driver escorted us to the Huatian Hotel and we were all checked in and settled by 8pm. When susan left us she told us to get some rest and she would be back to pick us up at 10am to go to the Civil Affairs office to meet Reagan.

We were down in the lobby by 10am nervously waiting for Susan to arrive. Sure enough her smiling face came through the front doors and after she greeted us and double checked all my paperwork, we were on our way to get Reagan.

The day did not exactly go according to plan, but we have our girl and she is healthy and beautiful......and that is all that matters! The day was simply amazing on so many levels.

I am going to try to keep it short, because I know you are all dying to see the photos......and many of you have stayed up way past your bedtime in hopes to catch the first glimpse of Reagan WenYi.

We arrived at 10:30am and as soon as we got there we were told that Reagan was not there yet...... Our guide Susan was notified that Reagan was was traveling by high speed train with her Nanny by and they were still en route.

We had found a spot in the office to start our paperwork in the meantime and then Marla said that maybe we should try to move to a different spot in the office..... we needed better light for the photos. So we had just sat down when we noticed a baby sitting in the corner with her nanny..... Marla was already taking photos of this little girl because she was so cute and so at peace. Then all of a sudden Marla shoots me a look and both the guide and I look up from our paperwork.......

IT WAS REAGAN!!! She had her two fingers in her mouth just like the one photo I posted a few weeks back.

We were not prepared..... we didn't have the video camera out or anything because we were told they were going to be late.

But as you can see..... Miss Marla went to town with the camera!

Here are a "few" from this morning!!!!

Reagan Day 6

Reagan is doing really well. She did not cry very much in the beginning..... just a little. I am not sure if she ever seen anyone with blonde hair.... or glasses:) We definitely scared her a bit.

She is very tiny.... the 6-12 month clothes seem to be a little roomy, although she does have a few rolls on her thighs:)

She has a gorgeous head of hair and very expressive eyes....she has shot us those furrowed brows that we saw in her referral photos many times today and a we have caught just a hint of a smile.

For someone so tiny, she sure is mighty girl.... she stood up trying to look out the car window on the way back to the hotel. She loves to look around and seems to be intrigued by all her new surroungings.

Overall...... we are doing very well. As I type this sweeet baby Reagan is sleeping in her crib. What an angel..... I get choked up just looking at her.

Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes. I can't tell you how much it means to our family.

Also I need to thank Marla, Derek, and the 4 J's. Words cannot describe the gratitude we feel towards their family...... Having Marla with me every step of the way has been incredible....... It has given both Pat and I such a sense of peace. She is a remarkable woman, friend, and photographer(just look at those pictures). I could never have done it without her.....and we will forever share a special bond. She will always be Reagan's Auntie Marla and one of my very best friends.

Okay.... I will update you with more details later today!!! Off to try to get a snack while my hands are free. My thoughts are all over the place and so are my emotions. I want to write something more eloquent when I have the time to really sit and write.

Pat, Nick, and Sarah..... I love and miss you all and cannot wait for you to meet your beautiful new Sister/Daughter!

PS. I had no idea that our guide Susan was going to be wearing the same color pink.....or Reagan !! It was not planned.....just luck:)

So I went away and came back, three times, having wiped away my tears of joy.
And still I can't get the words to express how wonderful this is. You have waited, Reagan has waited, and now all is as it should be (well, almost. It will be complete when she arrives home).
So CONGRATULATIONS and LOVE and WELL DONE to you all!

That room has been witness to so much joy and the uniting of families coming full circle, if those walls could talk...the only language they would speak is one of love, dedication and belief in a plan developed by G*d and entrusted to each individual to accomplish on their own personal journey.

I'm sure now with Reagan in your arms at last, it all makes sense. The wait was what it was as a means to bring you to your chosen child.

She is so lovely and her journey has also been a long one but your roads finally connected as they were always meant to. Enjoy your first official day together in the physical world, but know you have been connected on another level all along. Somewhere, sometime ago your soul told her soul "I'll meet you in China in October of 2010" and you were both right on time.

Blessings are already surrounding you, enjoy your time together at the meeting place and have a safe trip home.

With a full heart my thoughts are with you, your beautiful daughter and wonderful friend, Marla.

Love Valerie

Oh my! I am new to your blog. I popped over from Ni Hao Y'all. I am so touched reading your story and seeing the photos. It is so much like our story of meeting our second daughter. So sweet, so sad. Your Reagan has her two fingers to comfort her and our Tessa had to be holding something in her hand...always. She still does often. She is almost eleven. We got our first smile after five days. I wear a charm with the picture of that first smile around my neck along with a favorite picture of her sister Grace (now almost 14). Enjoy every minute with your beautiful daughter.

Lisa,
I just got chills... when we adopted Camille FIVE years ago... we were in that very SAME room... (I know, all adoptions in Changsha probably take place there) but it still gave me chills to see your photos... I was transported back... those seats, the walls, that same square clock... thank you for sharing! Reagan is beautiful!

Oh how I love this! Your photos are wonderful, I feel like I could be in the room with you! Reagan is gorgeous and I just LOVE how she sucks those fingers...reminds me of Mags sucking her thumb...oh the comfort! Your mentioning of not sucking down the bottles reminds me of Magnolia too, she never ever took to bottles again, even when we got back to the states... she did love the steamed eggs, yogurt, and soups when we were in China. Each day will get easier and soon you will see a smile and then you'll get that belly laugh, pure joy! Enjoy your precious time over there, I'm thinking of you!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Hi Lisa,
I brought my gorgeous daughter Georgia Xi Yuan home from Changsha (she had been at the Chenzhou SWI) almost 2 years ago and she is the most amazingly beautiful, happy, and well-adjusted little girl in the world. Congratulations and thank you for sharing your amazing photos, especially the ones of the orphanage! If you want to be in touch with any other moms of spicy Hunan girls, feel free to contact me!

Best,
Candice
