First Day as a Freshman
I am running way behind this morning and honestly have not picked up my camera since we left the beaches of Cape Cod, but luckily I was able to capture a few "firsts" this week using my Iphone and Instagram.

Tuesday morning Nick set off on his first day as a Freshman at the new high school. He absolutely LOVES it so far. He is thrilled with his course selection and is already making a lot of new friends. Big sigh of relief on my end..... Even though it is a bit of culture shock for him going from his small cozy catholic school to a very large public high school(he said the hallways were like walking NYC streets), I think he is going to do JUST FINE!

Reags First DAY OF SCHOOL
After we got Nick out the door, it was time to prepare Reags for her first day at the new preschool/daycare. I was a nervous wreck..... No comfort of knowing her big sister was in the room next door, she was there all by herself. She started off very brave and happy.... the girl loves her new backpack and lunchbox:)

Sad Reags 1st Day of School
The confidence quickly faded once we walked in the room and she realized that I was going to leave her there. The fingers went in the mouth and next came the tears and screams for Mommy. It ripped my heart right out of my chest. I stayed to comfort her for a bit but after a while they told me I was just going to have to try and leave and they would try to console her. I sat in the parking lot for a few minutes and then headed home. As soon as I walked in the door I called the school and they said she had calmed down.

Orientation Sarah
Next was Miss Sarah. She had her Kindergarten orientation where we met with her teacher privately and she showed Sarah her desk and all around the classroom. Sarah seems to really like her new teacher and is now super excited for the first day of school which is next Tuesday!

Once orientation was over, Sarah was feeling a little lost and lonely without her little sis. She must have asked me three times when she was coming back home. Finally it was time to go pick her up and Reags was all smiles when she saw us.

Nice to meet you
The girls were so funny!! They were only apart for a few hours but you would have thought they were away from each other for days. You should have heard the chatter and seen the constant hugging. I was doing some organizing in my bedroom and they were playing at the table in the sitting area and they kept shaking each others hands and saying "Nice to meet you, my name is Reagan/Sarah". It was the sweetest thing, so I grabbed my phone to try to catch them in the act. I am guessing Reags must have introduced herself to a lot of new friends that day and maybe she was teaching Sarah a thing or two for her first day! Either way, it made me smile big!

So, we officially have the first week down for Nick and Reags..... With each day that passes, the drop off is a little easier for the tiny one! I think she is starting to feel comfortable with her new teachers and surroundings.

Well, I have to run but I will be back soon with photos from Sarah first day as a Kindergartener!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

What an emotional week for you Lisa... such highs and lows and worry all at the same time. It's exhausting, isn't it? I'm happy for you all that Nick is adjusting well and that Reagan is starting to like her new place. I'm sure Sarah will adore Kindergarten. It's a magical year and she seems so eager. Hope you find some time to relax this weekend. ~tara

Ooh my friend...so so hard to leave them when they are distressed! Your post made me cry a little as it brought back memories when I left kiara at pre-school...the same scenario! But, our girls are strong & resilient & I know Reags will soar in her school!

Great photos as usual! Wishing Nick, Sarah & Reagan a happy & successful school year!!
Hugs!!

These are so sweet Lisa!!!! I love that they are happy to be together. My girls are like that- can't stand to be apart. I love that bond. There is comfort when they are together.

Love your INSTAGRAM PHOTOS!! I'm still learning to use it. I've only posted a few of my fav's so far.

Bre thinks she is KINDERGARTEN EXTRAORDINARE! She is at a NEW SCHOOL this year. She knows MOST of the kids as they were in the same "afterschool program" last year. It's funny to hear the "older" kids greet her and come over and hug her!! One kid greeted me like this "Hey Brejanae's mom!!" It was hilarious!! I kid you not!!! It was the sweetest thing!!! She is the most sociable kid ever!! The kid would TALK TO A LIGHTPOLE if it would talk back!!!

Change is so hard, isn't it? Luckily little ones are pretty flexible and settle in rather quickly.

I actually just left my kids home for a week while my husband and I went to San Francisco. I was nervous to leave them behind, but they did great and I had a fabulous time. Stop by and check out my Chinatown pics!

Oh Lisa I remember those hard drop-offs all too well. The transitions are always hard for Amelia too. It's her 3rd year in her school and she hasn't had a morning melt-down yet; last year it happened within the first week, we're nearly a month in now so we may be in the clear. I don't envy you at all - so many mornings I'd go sit at my desk and try not to cry...but she made it through and so did I:)

Aww. Poor Reagan. And Sarah looks so fragile. But they are also strong, and everything will be OK. ;) Beautiful captures! Great moments!
