Favorite Photo Friday - "Yellow Isn't Pretty"

September 21, 2012

After only one soccer clinic and one team practice, Sarah took the field last Saturday for her very first soccer game. She woke up super excited and ready to play and then I brought out the new uniform that was handed to us earlier that week.....

She looked at me and said, "Yellow Isn't Pretty Mommy"

Well, I would have to agree with her that this would not have been my first choice for a uniform color, but we did not have any options, her team was all going to be sporting yellow and black.

I felt bad.... I sort of set her up for this disappointment when I took her shopping for all pink gear. When Nick played for this organization, they did not really have these fancy uniforms at such a young age. Times have obviously changed and I was shocked when they handed every team member a brand spankin' new ball and an Adidas uniform complete with the soccer socks.
So now we wear pink to practice and yellow to games:)

Her game was at 9am in an open field and although the lighting conditions were not ideal, I did my best to capture our girl in action.

For any of you that have or have had little ones play soccer, it can be quite comical at times.

There were moments when they would just be chatting or running down the field holding hands oblivious to the ball and other times where they were all clumped up trying to get kick it at the same time. After the first quarter, they began to find their groove and from behind the camera, I watched Sarah get a little aggressive and I sensed a slight competitive edge coming out in her.

Our team won the game and Sarah scored 3 goals!
We were very proud of our girl!!

When she woke up Sunday morning she said, "Is today a soccer day?"
She could not wait to get out on that field again because she had so much fun.

We will be out there tomorrow and every Saturday from now until Thanksgiving!! Not sure I will be taking the camera along that often, but I did promise her I would take it to practice one night so that we could get pictures of her in the pretty pink soccer gear:)

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend.
TGIF!!!

After two weeks of school, we are finally getting into the swing of the new routine and schedule!

Soccer IS hilarious with little ones! We still enjo the memory of my son (now 13)at his first game...while his team was heading the other direction down the court (indoor soccer), he (then 4 years old) was hanging over the padded railing, asking for some of our popcorn!

Yay! I love that you have a soccer girl now too!

BTW, Bri wears her pink socks to practice too. They prefer black socks on game days here too. :D

3 goals?! Good for her!! I love watching them at this age. Funny, three of my kids have started their soccer "careers" on the yellow team as well ;)

oh she looks to be having such a great time! We tried soccer for my son when he was younger but sadly the coaches were all about winning and not team spirit!

ha...my high school colors were black & gold and I despised them. Sarah looks very comfortable on the field, congrats to her for scoring (and, in the right net, for the right team!!!) M

So cute! I so remember those days. I understand her not liking the yellow- or at least that shade. But I'm not too fond of that other team's color either. I have seen some real interesting ones lately. When we did it my son was given the ball, shirt & shorts, we provided the rest- but it was all blue & black. Hope you can do a little shoot with her in her pink gear- how darling that must be!

Have a great weekend my dear friend!

The comment yellow isn't pretty reminds me of the cartoon Olivia where she doesn't like her uniform colors. Too cute! She looks like a little bee. Anyway Lisa if you a moment can you send me the name of the adoption agency you used.

I went to my grandson's soccer game and it was BY FAR THE FUNNIEST THING EVER!!! He was so proud when he scored a goal (even though it was in his OWN TEAMS GOAL)! He held his hands up in TRIMUPHANT and EXCLAIMED "TOUCHDOWN"!! Other times he was wondering when he was smiling all goofy at the cutest little red headed girl. He ran to the sidelines and said to me "YaYa!! That's my friend right there" as she went whizzing by!! I just love this age of "learning new activities"!!

Bre played T-ball and their uniforms were the cutest ever! They had PINK uniform shirts, black pants and pink/black polka dotted socks w/black Nikes w/a pink swoosh! I think she only wanted to play because of the uniforms.Ha!! Funniest moment: When we were screaming "RUN HOME BRE!! She stopped mid-run and said "But I don't wanna GO HOME, I wanna play T-ball!! PRICELESS!!!!!! The girl is just too literal!!!

Enjoying these moments GREATLY!! I feel so blessed to share these moments with Bre and the GRANDBOYS!!!

Cute pics! I love the one of her sitting on the ball, and in all the others she looks like she's having lots of fun.
Pity she was disappointed about the pink, I guess yellow is the gender-neutral one, but Sarah would look great in any colour, she is such a beautiful girl.
Delighted to see her enjoying her sport! can't wait to see the pink practice shots Lisa.

Too bad about the colors, but what a great game!
