A Look Around

November 9, 2008

We have spent the last few days trying to get the house ready for the holidays. Pat worked on the outside, while I worked on the inside.

With my trip to TN next week, Sarah's Birthday, and then a trip to Cape Cod for Thanksgiving, we figured there was no time like the present.

We are nowhere near done, but it gives me peace of mind to know we have a good start.

I promised a little look around......so here is your Christmas preview......

IMG_5767

Our dining room....almost finished, just a couple more things!

IMG_5507
These glass jars are my favorite....easy to change the look by changing the filler to match the season. Some of you probably remember these from one of my fall posts.

IMG_5778
Our foyer table....I usually put some kind of long stem flower in the tall vase, but for the winter I fill it with white branches and then hang the little ornaments to make it festive.

IMG_5519
Our pub table in the bar/entertainment room.

IMG_6004
I got the WISH letters last year and set them on those little gift boxes. I also bought the stockings last year, but I still need to get our names put on them!!

BTW, it totally bothers me that the white swich plate is sticking out like a sore thumb....I will have to fix that....I just need to brainstorm a little bit. Normally, it is covered!!
IMG_6010
Do you see Sarah's toys in the corner??? That is where we try to hide them!!

IMG_5782
The top of the armoire in our family room!!

Hopefully you enjoyed your look around!! More to come soon!

Don't worry, I have not forgotten about that little holiday known as Thanksgiving. I plan to share some great new turkey day recipes!! When I wasn't decorating this weekend, I was cooking up a storm.!!

Hey girly!

Looks absolutely beautiful! I am now in the mood...thank you!!! I love the top of your armoire and your foyer table in particular. You are very creative.

We got Paige's schedule today and OH MY!!! All I can say, is just call my cell phone anytime as I will either be on the road schlepping her to rehearsal or sitting in the car grading papers waiting on her. She rehearses three nights a week and one weekend day until the production on Dec. 13th!

Seriously, just call me whenever it is good for you, as I will be in and out. Looking forward to brainstorming!

Everything does look lovely and now I can't wait to get our things out:)

Rob has been working seven days a week, so when I batted my eyelashes and said we should begin this weekend, I did not get real good reception! He said the weekend before Thanksgiving, we can begin...woohoo!

I have wrapped the switchplate like a gift, or I strategically place a giant bauble in the greens (usually a red or gold shiny oversized ornament) just in front. I do something different every year. I have a gorgeous old fashioned mantle scarf with the nativity on it and since I have used that, I limit my greens, so I end up with the same issue.

Let us know what suggestions you get:)

Have a great week.
Heather

I didn't get any of ours out over the weekend but I did address Christmas cards, worked on our menues for Christmas Eve, Christmas breakfast and Christmas dinner. My goal is to enjoy the holidays this year, not just get through them! : )

Your home is just BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for sharing with us.

I am trying to stay within each holiday this year but it is sooo hard.

As for the swithplate. Take it off the wall spray with a little primer and then paint the color of your wall and it totally disappears! Good luck and keep the pictures coming so we can steal your ideas! Hehe

Lisa, this is my first time here and I LOVE your blog - You house looks AMAZING too! Man, I wish I were good with decorating. O:-)

Okay, so the reason I'm writing is that my sister and her husband decided over the weekend that they are going to adopt. (He told her that he's had it on his heart for 2 years) Anyway, they've started praying for GOD to lead them to the right child/country. I guess I was just wondering how long you've been waiting, if it's a typical wait time, and if there are any "big" requirements for adopting internationally that they should know about. If you're busy (and it looks like you are) then don't worry about answering my questions. I've actually met several ladies online recently that have adopted. I can ask them too! =-)

It was great to meet you!

Love,
Tonya

PS.. if you are going to answer, could you email instead of leaving a comment? My sis hasn't told our parents yet. They wanna keep it quiet until they know more about what they're doing. My email address is nason5@aol.com (If anyone reading this has insight, I'd love to hear from you as well)

Hey again LIsa!
OK, that is really weird. We had a weekend visitor who used my computer and his name was Tom. I thought I had logged him out but maybe I didn't and so I've been signing all my comments "Tom" all day. Well, maybe that is a reflection of where my mind is...I feel all jumbled today anyway, maybe I should just continue to be Tom!

Your house is beautiful and your decorating is so elegant. You have very nice taste and it was a treat to get to see your Christmas decorations!

I notice your pictures are rimmed with white "fading". What software do you use? Mine has an effect that will do a black spotlight, but nothing like your white rims.
