The Scary Man

December 7, 2008

Last week I spent three days in bed with the flu, by Friday afternoon my fever had broken and I was starting to feel myself again. I was so ready to get out of the house....I was feeling couped up and Sarah was beginning to climb the walls. After a little debating I decided to take Sarah to visit Santa....otherwise known as "The Scary Man".

As you might remember, our little photo opportunity with the Sugar Plum Fairy last weekend did not go so well, so I didn't have high hopes for this visit, but I wanted to at least try!!

As we approached the "North Pole", Sarah was excited....she saw all the lights and Christmas trees and was pointing in every direction. Of course I had the camera in hand and as soon as we were in line, I was stopped by one of the "elves" running Santa's village!! She ever so politely asked me to put my camera away. I said, "Don't worry, I won't use it when we get up there, I just wanted to get some candid shots along the way, and I will buy the package that you are selling" She said it didn't matter....you are not allowed to use them at all!! Doesn't she know I need more than one stinkin picture??

I did sneak a couple pictures of Sarah visiting santa's little bakery in the back before we got stopped....they are not great.....but at least I got a few!!

IMG_7127
Mommy, Are you coming?

IMG_7122
Look....the elves are back there baking.....maybe we can get some cookies!!

IMG_7126
Where is Santa....I am ready to see him now.....maybe you could tuck my shirt in first!!

IMG_7129
Please don't make me sit with "The Scary Man"......I won't go!!

Notice anything different?

Just getting over the flu, pale and pasty and I had to get in the picture with her!! It was the only thing I could do to get her anywhere near "The Scary Man"....she also would not sit next to him, so I had to keep her on the opposite side. Every once in a while, she would peak over at him and then start crying again. This was the only photo they took that she was not crying and had somewhat of a smile on her face. There was only one tiny problem.....I looked absoultely horrible. As soon as I saw it on the girls computer screen, I was going to ask them try again, but I could already see the glares I was getting from the people standing in line so I just bought it anyway. All weekend I have been trying to figure out how I could post this without me and it was virtually impossible.....so I got a little creative.

Do you like my new look?

I bet you never thought to do this with your Christmas onraments!!!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!

Being sick with a little one is one of the hardest jobs ever!

The photos are great! And quite the creative way around the post flu look! ;)

Lisa I AM CRACKING UP. Is it really THAT BAD????? You are so funny!!!!

I'm sorry that poor Sarah wouldn't sit on the Scary Man's lap... if it's any consolation, our girls never have been very thrilled about it either.

I think it's hilarious that you had to go sit on his lap... after all that!

Poor Lisa. :)

I know I shouldn't be laughing, but your creativity leaves me speechless : ) I knew Tonggu Momma would love this.

We are always our own worst critic, I am sure you looked great.

Sarah looks ADORABLE in these photos and her skirt...to die for!!!

So glad you are all feeling better. I am on the mend, too. Have a great week!

Dear Sarah,

Don't worry...It's okay that you were scared. I would have been too, to have to sit of Scary Man's lap, next to a woman with an ornament head no less....

Please tell your mom that I hope she feels better soon...and girl...you were rockin' those boots...nice!!

I can't wait to see you next week...and even though the scary man will make an appearance...there will be lots of solicitous big girls who will have your back.

Peace out little sista...

I am so sorry that you were sick!!!!

But what a cute idea with the ornament. I cannot believe they would not let you take your own photo!!!!! I would have anyway...I am just like that. It would drive me CRAZY!

At our place, they ask you to refrain if you are NOT buying any of the packages.

Lisa,

I'm sorry to hear that you have been under the weather. Glad you're better. Sarah looked too adorable in that precious polka-dot skirt.

Sloan has always been deathly afraid of Santa so the only picture I have of him is with me in it too. We were going to attempt it this weekend but after we were having dinner at a restaurant and Sloan ducked under the table when a Santa walked in, I thought it probably was a bad idea. Presently, I'm thinking of a good bribe ;)

Okay, that is way too funny! The things we will do for our little angels..... :) I'm sorry you were sick, hope you feel much better this week.
I love the pictures...The "no camera" thing drives me nuts!

We plan to take the boys to see the "scary man" next week. IF I have to appear in the picture, I WILL be stealing your ornament :)

I love the Santa photo! So funny with that ornament! I did not see you until you mentioned it! Your Sarah is gorgeous even though she is not feeling her best!

I actually knew you would get my last post! I remember yours about Nick and related so strongly to it! Thank you!

Hey I need to borrow that ornament!

That skirt and boots are to-die-for!

My little Madi isn't feeling good, so I thnk she will be missing school tomorrow...but my poor hubby can't miss work(military) and he is even worse than her...I guess it's that time of year. Glad you are better.

LOVE your new ornament look...so funny! Sorry you've been sick and it sounds like you are on the mend. I haven't had a child yet that likes Santa...we don't even attempt pics now and Will is the same way. Sarah is adorable. Love her skirt, she looks great in red I think!

That is hillarious!!! I love the big Christmas ball-- very funny!!

I love Sarah's outfit and the boots are awesome!! Mia only has a couple pair of boots becuase it is just too hot to wear them here- but I have them just in care :)

Sorry you were sick. We have had it 2 times this year-- I am soooo sick of being sick. We had the flu a few weeks back and then just this past Thursday I lost my voice and it is still not back-- uggg-- I hate losing my voice. Anyway, no one in our family is 100% but hopefully in a few days we will be.

Anyway, cute pics-- love your "creativity!"

Hi Lisa,
Sorry to hear that you've been sick, but I'm glad you are feeling better!!

How funny you had to sit wit her. When's the last time you've sat on Santa's lap? Did you feel the need to tell him a few things on your wish list? :)

p.s. Love Sarah's rockin' boots!!

So glad you are feeling better. We were also in a Santa line and could not take pictures. It made me turn into a Grinch and we just talked with Sants because I refused to pay the huge cost for one package. This was a mall out of town. Anyway it didn't take me long to get back into the Christmas spirit after that!!!

I LOVE the ornament. I need a few of those on some of my pictures!!

Blessings,
Robin

I love how creative you got with the ornament. :)

Sarah looked completely adorable though.

I'm sorry you were sick. I had it the week before Thanksgiving. It bites!
They went all out and decorated the mall and then "No picture taking allowed"? Where's your Christmas spirit "elve"?
I like your new look, but I bet, despite getting over the flu, you still looked great!

Michaela

Could it be that bad? ! :) I totally know that feeling though esp. after being sick. Bummer you had the flu, glad you are feeling better! I won't even attempt taking Magnolia to see the scary man, I don't think she would sit next to him either! I certainly love Sarah's outfit, she looks darling!

Thank you for a much needed Monday laugh! An ornament on your face...brilliant! No worries. We've all had those days where we look like we've been in bed for three days with the flu! I think you rock for sitting there with her. I've had to do that too...but not as bad since it was my dad! ha!
And her pics are super stinkin' cute! Love her outfit. That girl, she's got some serious style!
Hope you're feeling better!

And love the ornament!! Go Picnik ( you are my best friend for getting me to actually use the program!)
