Do You Have Neighbors Like This?

April 6, 2009

That Neighbor (2 of 5) copy
Meet our neighbors, they are very nice, friendly people.....Their house is directly across the street from ours.....they are great neighbors, but there is something that has been bothering me lately......Can you guess what it might be? I took this picture of their house yesterday.......Do you notice anything???

Maybe you need to take a closer look.......

That Neighbor A Closer look-700
Do you see it now.....
It is April 5th and they still have Christmas decorations on the outside of their house. It is time to bring out the shorts and the flip flops and they still have lights on their tree and a wreath with garland around the door.

There is always one person in a neighborhood who does this....I just hate that it happens to be right across from us. My office is in the front of our house, so as I sit at my desk all day working, this is what I see.....and it drives me crazy. Our neighborhood has rules and deed restrictions for just about everything....swingsets, pools, fences, cars parked on the street....you name it, there is a rule for it......I am thinking they need to add a new rule.....

ALL Christmas Decor must be removed by the first day of SPRING

Pat and I have placed bets on when it will come down......Care to join in the fun..... How long do you think they will leave it up?

Hope you all had a great weekend.....Ours was kind of busy....Pictures to come soon! I got Sarah's hair cut again.....really short in the back and longer in the front....I LOVE it.....it looks thicker and much healthier....it will be perfect for the summer:)

That is sooo funny! Maybe they could add some eggs to that decoration! I bet it doesn't come down until May 1!

Too funny. I'm thinking the decorations might come down around Memorial Day or July 4 when they go to put up a flag!

Oh my! I think if we had that neighbor...some of the other neighbors WOULD say something or get on a ladder and take it down!

We have a neighbor like this. One year some of our other neighbors took down the decorations for him and placed it all in a bin by the curb. On trash day. The owners rescued the decorations, just in time, but it's still a source of speculation as to who exactly did the deed.

A couple of years ago, after Hurricane Isabel, that same neighbor's tree fell into the street. He left it there for WEEKS because he said the county should take care of it (it WAS on the lawn between the sidewalk and curb - but directly in front of his house - and seriously? NOT a priority for the county after Isabel). So a group of neighbors cut off and up the tree, but left a stump that was about three feet high. :)

And by the way, I adore this neighbor? He IS a character, though. And no, it's not Ring.

I feel your pain. We too have a neighbor like this. Fortunately, they are not right across the street. Maybe someone could leave and anonymous tip in their mailbox.

That is too funny! You would think that someone who lives in such a beautiful home would think that it was time to take down the Christmas decorations!!! Crazy!? I'm hoping they come down soon!

I'm guessing it will up until July 4th! Maybe you could sneak over during the night and pull some down --they'll think some kids did it! :)

Have a fun week!

I can't WAIT to see Sarah's hair!!!!

You should totally do something annoying in return, but within reason. I suggest a pink flamingo or two in your front yard. complete with margaritas and MAYBE Christmas flair :)

Sure looks like Spring there! Maybe they are waiting for some strong winds...or Easter or Memorial vacation.

I hate that when people do that. But then I hate to see Easter decorations outside, too. :-)

TOOO FUNNY..
I say they will not take it down till June...
hope you don't have to look at it that long..
Hugs..

Hahahaha! We have a neighbor down the street that still has lights in their trees too. I've considered going down there one night and taking them down myself!

Sorry you have to look at them every day though, that would drive me bananas!

It's the icicle lights that are up through June that drive me crazy!

I can't wait to see Sarah's new "do." Sounds like a cut I'll adore!

That is so funny. I was feeling bad because I just got my Easter decorations out - feeling much better now.

That's so funny! My sister works for a small insurance agency and they leave their TREE up all year and just redecorate it for each season! Easter tree, 4th of July tree - it's the craziest thing I've ever seen! :-)

I am cracking up here seeing that! We've got some of those around here, too! Hmm~ maybe a gift of a spring wreath for them should be in the cards?!? ;)
Wow~ I don't even know what to bet here. If they've left it up this long I'm going to guess maybe it might come down by the 4th of July?!? ;)
Can't wait to see Sarah's new do. I know it's going to be adorable!
And how is soccer going? Mr Man got 2 goals in yesterday's game so he was on cloud nine!
I know I owe you an email today! I'm getting there!!! :)

That is too funny! That drives me nuts too...WHY? It just does not make sense! We had friends who had their tree up until Valentine's Day!
I do remember you and I being one of the ones who did want our Christmas stuff really early this year(LOL).... :)
Looking forward to the picture of Sarah's new hair. Have a great week! Looking forward to the contest too!

Good grief! How lazy is that!? If someone in my neighborhood still had Christmas decorations up, they would have received a nasty-gram from the HOA by now.

I'll say June 1st it'll be down!

Can't wait to see Miss Sarah's do!

LOL - my word verification is "torch" - that's what needs to be done to those decorations. ;)

Oh that is too funny!! We live in a restricted neighborhood also...there are a lot of summer and seasonal residents and there are still X-Mas decorations. Thankfully no one on our street! Maybe they read your blog and will take them down! ; )

Mmmmmm...I've envious of their lawn, so green. Here on my neck of the woods is still brown and yellow since winter hasn't doesn't want to leave us yet.

Can't wait to see sarah's new look!

Our over restricted community does have a rule for that. We send them a letter and then the fines begin if they don't oblige the request to tuck dear old Santa crap away immediately. Drives me nuts as well.

Yes, we all have at least one of "those" in the neighborhood. Ours decorates like its Disneyland ~ I try not to look when I drive by it!

Love the photos of the children ~ so darn cute!

Hee hee, after drooling over the size of the house I spotted the Christmas decor. And yes, we have a neighbor that still has their Christmas wreath and garland up as well....I think all neighborhoods have them!
I'm with Shawn, can't let it bother you or it'll drive your crazy. Especially if their good neighbors and hey, at least their lawn is really nice!:)

Launa said...

Oh my goodness this is hilarious!! I'm guessing...Ummm....Easter really..Ok!

Daniella said...

Yes this would drive me nuts! We live in a deed restricted community in SW Fl and have lots of rules - so far this one hasn't happened but being on our HOA board I might have to add this - very scary to be looking at Christmas decorations in April.

I am right there with you, Lisa. Really come on- that is ridiculous and we too have a neighbor or two that do the same!

How can we feel springy when we are forced to look at winter.

Hugs!

At first I thought you were going to ridicule the colour of the front door.

My boss went on a rant the one day about a house on her street with an orange door.

I love colour and I love bold...hense the red dining room, Dalton's pin striped green room and Dakota's yellow room.

Perhaps, the garland will be changed for easter.... OR NOT!!!!

You are so funny!! In the south.. i see this ALOT! lol!!!! But, that doesn't mean I like it!!!!! Oh no, I just took mine down last week!.... Kidding.. ;)

Dita said...

Oh, we have them over here too....

The good news is that your neighbors don't seem to have the Clark Griswald gene and the entire house is not dropping the grid over there.

I must say, I hope that's a remnant of the decorations because that little teeny, tiny bit of garland looks like a mustache on that huge house!

Clearly, taste they 'ain't' got!

Paula said...

I'm with you on this one...but our neighbors still actually turn their lights on all night. Now, that is just too much.

jenbusymom said...

Gorgeous house! I'm so jealous that you're in tanks and flip flops! I'm thinking maybe by sumemr if they haven't by now! I'm embarrassed to say that ours only came down last week...just in time for some quick easter ones! Of course we still have snow though so it's not as bad!

Bridget said...

Oh Lisa - I am glad you don't live in Minnesota - it would drive you crazy!!! People still have their decorations up and many leave their lights on until springtime. Enough already!!! I hope they come down soon!

Kayce said...

We do have one house like that on the block! The folks that bought our first home have never taken the decor down since they're first Christmas 5 years ago!!! Everytime we drive down through the old neighborhood we expect to see the lights gone but they never are.

Gotta love those kinds of neighbors. Before we moved to GA we lived in a neighborhood where there was no HOA or covenants and all of our neighbors took care of their yards (well except for the next door neighbors that were content with their weeds for grass) and never left up decorations longer than necessary. Now we live in a neighborhood that has a HOA and covenants to follow and yeah, not being done. One of the rules is you can not park your car on the street. Has to be in garage or driveway and I can't tell you how many of our neighbors park...I mean dump their cars in the street for days/weeks on end. That is my biggest pet peeve because these cars tend to be parked in areas where there is a lot of traffic and makes it very hard to navigate the streets.

Let us know when the decorations come down. My guess is they'll leave them up through the next holiday.

Well...am I wrong to say "this is just wrong!" lol!

Reminds me of seeing all the Christmas trees thrown out in the streets in early Feb...these trees were in apartments for THAT long??!!! lol!

There are sooooo many brownstones here in the city where people keep their Christmas lights up all year long too...I just don't get it!

Sure is a beauty of a house though! ;)

CC said...

Wait, was I supposed to notice something besides the fact that that house is as big as my entire neighborhood???? ;)

Ivy Shaffer said...

THIS IS TOO FUNNY! Oh, let me guess, they have no room to store the decorations:))
Well I happen to agree with Sara's comment. Just put a flock of pink flamingos in your yard!

Hugs,

Ivy

oh yeah, whew, that is quite a violation. I think that there probably is a city ordinance out there. Call it in!

LOL!

I can't stand that!!! My neighbor right behind us JUST took down there dead garland swags from arounf there house. There house is for sale and they still had there Christmas decorations up. I couldn't believe they were having an open house with dead garland swags around the house.
