Fun In Philadelphia

July 8, 2008

Today we took the kids into Philadelphia to visit The Franklin Institute. We all had a great time....there was a lot to do and see. Sarah was a trooper.....she stayed in her stroller for about the first hour and after that she was up and around. I took a ton of pictures and again could not decide on which ones to post, so I thought the best thing to do was to put them in a slide show, like I did with our 4th of July photos!

There are some pretty funny pictures....I think my favorites are the pictures of the kids in the wind tunnel......they were hysterical when they felt the gust of air.....and I couldn't stop laughing when I looked at their hair standing up on end.......you all know, I did not go anywhere near it.....I let Pat take Sarah in the tunnel.....his hair is too short to get messed up!

I am sure some of you noticed that cute little monkey that is on Sarah's back in some of the photos......last night when we were planning this trip I told Pat we should try to make a Tar.get run before we head out, because I had seen these monkey backpacks there and wanted to buy one for Sarah to use today. My sister Kristi bought this little monkey for my nephew Aidan a couple months ago and when I saw it, I thought it was the cutest thing ever.....even though I said I would never be "one of those parents that puts their kids on a leash"! We did not have time to run to Tar.get, but my sister was nice enough to let us borough Aidan's for the day......I am glad we took it......she loved it.....she was able to walk and we could still keep her out of harms way and make sure she did not get away from us.....so Thanks Aunt Kristi, it was a lifesaver!

After we were finished with the tour, we met up with my cousin Nicole and her husband Greg....they live in Philadelphia. We met them for dinner at a great restaurant.....I was a little nervous when I walked in, because it did not look like a place for kids, but it turned out to be a great time! We got there at 4pm and they were not serving dinner yet, so they sent us to a lounge until 5pm......A lounge....with 2 boys and a toddler.....are you kidding!!! Well, they had this big sofa that wrapped around the whole room and animal shaped chairs.....the kids went wild......they thought it was the coolest thing ever and we survived the hour....I did pity the adults that were in the room trying to enjoy a cocktail after a long day of work!

This restaurant was decorated like it belonged to Mike and Carol Brady......very retro and 70's, with odd shaped chairs.....you will see the boys sitting at their own private table in chairs that are hanging from the ceiling.....I was just waiting for one of them to fall down!

The food was fabulous.....they had a very funky menu and we all ended up with Thai cuisine.....except Greg......he had Lobster Macaroni and Cheese......it was to die for....very rich, but delicious!

OK.....I think I saved the best for last......I saw this in one of the exhibits........does anyone think there is something wrong with this picture?????

I would suggest he get off immediately and start downing some milkshakes!!!

Looks like you guys had a blast! Those pictures are GREAT! The ones in the wind are hysterical. You cracked me up when you were describing the restraunt as very Carol Brady, retro 70's! My sister has a backpack like that for her almost 2 year old and she loves it!

We haven't been to Vegas since I was pregnant with Chelsi....and we saw Bill Cosby ...he was fabulous..we also say Siegfried and Roy....it was fabulous as well....as for the food...well....at that time...food didn't like me...everything thing I ate made me sick...so I ate mostly crackers on that trip....really sad since there were tons of great buffets and wonderful places to eat....oh well....I need to go back!

Miss Sarah looks so precious with her Monkey backpack! What a cutie!!!

Great pics, love the wind tunnel with Sarah and your hubby. I must get one of those backpacks! Madison loooovvvves monkeys and as horrible as it is to use a leash, at two they don't realize the danger of running away all the time!

Love the skeleton on the eliptical!

Hey! I didn't know you were relatively close to Philly. The Fish family lives just north of there, so we are in the area a couple of times a year.
