Weeds, Wildflowers, and a White Bench

Reagan in pink and orange with the hat BLOG
The last few weekends I have had client sessions booked, so I have not had my camera pointed at the girls as often as I usually do.

But Sunday night, I was feeling rather inspired by this antique white bench and the empty lot in our neighborhood that has been taken over by weeds and wildflowers.

S and R in Orange and Pink on the bench BLOG
Everyone in our neighborhood complains about these empty lots and the fact that the builder has let the weeds completely take over.

Unfortunately, they creep on over into our nicely manicured lawns and we are in constant battle trying to keep our flowerbeds and gardens weed free!

Yeehaaa Reagan BLOG
I know our neighbors probably saw me out there and thought I had lost my mind, but I just knew it was going to make a beautiful back drop.....and the best part was that it was just outside our door!

Sarah Vertical Long Skirt and Hat BLOG
The girls couldn't believe we were going back there and Sarah got excited when she saw all of the wild flowers surrounding us.

Sarah picking flowers in pink cowgirl hat2 BLOG
She thought we had just landed in the biggest flower patch around:)

Looking down at Sarah on the white bench BLOG
If you can't tell, Sarah was totally in her element!!
She loves to be free and run around outside..... most of the time barefoot:)

Sarah and Reags sitting on a blanket with the hat and flowers BLOG
I was really hoping for a fabulous "sisters" shot, but this was as close as I could get!
Reags is such a handful and at her age, she just wants to do her thing.
Taking direction from mom is not one of them.

Blurry Reagan with flowers BLOG
My best shots of her are always the ones where the does not even realize I am clicking. I was not sure how I felt about this photo because she was blurry and the flowers were in focus........ I tried something a little different and the more I look at it, the more it is growing on me!

Well, I am sure glad I decided to venture out to the empty lot on Sunday night because yesterday when I pulled into the development, I saw that the builder had a crew come in to cut down the tall grass and weeds. I knew it was only a matter of time....

Sarah wanted me to tell everyone that she picked out her outfit all by herself!
We had a little Mommy Daughter one on one time last Friday night and we did some shopping at Target. The first thing she spotted was the pink hat, then she found the bracelet. She is an accessory girl....just like her Mama!! She also picked out her skirt and top. She was very proud and could not wait to wear it! I can see back to school shopping is going to be a fun adventure for the two of us.

Happy Friday Everyone!
This is my last day of work and then I am off until the 8th.
I am so excited to have some extra down time with the family.
Have a wonderful weekend.

the long road

Oh girl you had me getting all deep in thought with illustrations. Like these pics I wonder if sometimes the weeds in our life that others look at as unwanted are actually the perfect backdrop for The Master Photographer to create something beautiful. Okay I have had my spiritual moment for the day. :)
Have a blessed weekend friend and I need to get with you about paying for the July class.

Such beautiful shots! Love the weeds, and flowers. We had a lot that I was loving, got a few shots there with the boys, but then alas, it got mowed! The shot of the focused flowers is really quite dreamy! Happy break from work, and oh how I love how your girls are dressed!

I think weeds make a beautiful backdrop!

I actually have been eyeing a similar lot a few doors down for the last 2 weeks...I better get over there and shoot before they're gone!

Enjoy your time off!

I love the feel of these pictures! Would you mind sharing your processing steps with me to get that warm antique yet crisp feel? {If that made any sense} growingupanjwife@gmail.com

These are so absolutely precious. I SO WISH they would let the weeds grow in our empty lots. Ours are sagebrush but I would rather see green than a dirt lot. Sigh.... Anyhow, I really really love that sister shot. I know as a mom you hoped they would both look right at you & give you the perfect expression, but really- this shows everything about their personalities right now at this very time. Definitely one to treasure. I so wish I had been able to capture moments like this when my kids were little. Now I have to try to make up for lost time, but they will never be little like that again. Wow Lisa....great timing. What a fabulous location. These pictures are so wonderful and whimsical. The girls are precious as always and I can so relate about Reagans antics. Sometimes those are our favorites when time passes.

Have a great week-end!

Beautiful as always, Lisa! I love the bright colors against the natural environment of the overgrown field. I did a shoot like this just this last week with four cute kiddos wearing super bright colors too! Love these photos of your two precious girls!

Fields and wildflowers are some of my favorite locations, maybe because they're so plentiful here where I live. You could put both of your beautiful subjects anywhere and you'd capture something wonderful!!

Love the blurry one btw!!

Enjoy your time off Lisa...

Stunning photography. What an amazing eye you have. My picture on my post is actually my niece's photo of my adopted daughter and I. The post is about the transformation God has done in her heart and mine. I hope you enjoy it.

Considering how the flowers are in focus and she is not,. have you ever tried a Lensbaby? I have been trying to decide if I should get one. I think the selective focus would be fun for portraits.

Lisa,
These are absolutely beautiful! I love the soft, dreamy feel and the backdrop is amazing. Who would have thought it was an empty lot :)! You do such amazing work and your girls are just darling. I have a girl with a fashion opinion too ... just wait ... it just may get interesting :)! We have learned to compromise! Enjoy your week off!

Tell Sarah Sienna wanted that bracelet too, but her mean Mom said "no!" (Her bday is very soon!!!)

As always I love the beauty and freshness of these! Even the blanket you chose was perfect!! You have inspired me to check out the empty lot at the end of our street!!!!

Have a great week off!!!!!

Love,
DIana

Hi Lisa! I should write you a proper e-mail, but it's SO time I go to sleep. However, I don't want to put off saying at least hi any longer. So...HI! I love your pictures. I can't help it. I think it's a shame people complain about some nature. Not everything has to be manicured to be beautiful. Definitely not plants! But I digress. We have some exciting news up here in Maine. Crazy stuff! I am very excited for you and your new business venture. I LOVE that building. That is SO my kind of place. I miss hearing from you lately. I need to get my butt in gear and actually write! I hope you are well.
