Feeling Out of Sorts...

October 13, 2008

IMG_4287

I have been feeling so out of sorts lately and I couldn't put my finger on it.....then Nick came home today!

He has spent the last two weekends with his Dad....we got out of sync with our schedule and it seems like he has been away more than he has been home.....it is just not the same when he is gone.

I know we have to share him, but it is so difficult. I feel like he misses out when he isn't with us and I feel extreme guilt everytime we do something fun in his absence.

Today was such a beautiful day that we went outside to play after school and with a little begging and pleading, Nick agreed to let me photograph him....(although I couldn't get him to change out of his school uniform...oh well)

IMG_4285

This is a first for me.....I have decided not to edit any of these photos. I have been playing around with my camera trying to figure out all the settings......THESE talented ladies have inspired me to make a better attempt....I am bound and determined to get this!!

I love the tree behind him in this shot.

I am so happy that Nick is back home and we are all looking forward to a great week together. I have always made it a point to plan some special things for just the two of us.....so on Friday we are heading to NYC!!! He has a school fieldtrip, but once we get to the city, we will have the day to ourselves....we are both excited and looking forward to our special day together in the big apple!

Look out Lady Liberty....here we come!!

Is NYC far from "home" for you??? I went on a church day trip there when I was young and since then I've only been back to the states once (don't laugh) for dinner.

I hope you have a great time!!!

Nick is such a handsome young man! I know you must miss him terribly when he's away. I think that will make your times with him even that more special. I can tell you love him so dearly. He certainly is a little doll.

NYC...take me, take me!!! I love New York. I can't wait to follow your journey!

Lisa, Nick is so adorable and has such a kind face. I don't know what it is, it just seems like he would be one of the "nice" kids in class who would stick up for the other kids who were being teased. Anyway, I am sure you will have so much fun in NYC! Can't wait to see pictures!

My, my what a handsome young man! Those young girls in NYC had better watch out. ;) Have a great trip! Can't wait to see all of the pics. I'm sure the city will give you lots of opportunities to work on your photography. Come to think of it, maybe that's where I need to go to work on mine. I'll just go run that by my hubby. ;)

Great photos -- Nick is such a good-looking boy (young man -- not really a boy anymore, is he). I'm sure it does seem strange when he is gone. Sounds like you and he have a fun trip planned!

Nick is so handsome! Those are great pictures!

Have fun in NYC! I love going there! My mom and sister were just there on Sunday. They went to Madam Truisso's (spelled wrong I'm sure) and then they went to see Wicked. They had a blast and I was so envious, I wished so bad that I was with them!

Lucky you! Have a great time my friend! It will be so nice to have some special time with him.

Lisa,

I can only imagine how much you miss him. Your comments about feeling guilty if you do anything fun without him really touched me. It must be terribly difficult to have him away from you.Your Nick is gorgeously handsome. He appears quite dapper and charming in his uniform!

Lisa, Nick is such a handsome boy. I know he makes your heart smile when you're all together! Wish Bryce's uniform looked that good at the end of a day. Why oh why does our principle have the younger grades wear WHITE for crying out loud?!? ;) Men!!! Happy day wishes to you, xo, Les

Lisa- you must be so proud of your Nick. So handsome! And seems like such a thoughtful guy. Must be hard for you having him gone. I can see where you would feel out of sorts. And times with him must be much much brighter.

Your photos are lovely and really depict what a sweet son you have!

Oh, Lisa, Nick is just so handsome!! You are going to have a serious heartbreaker on your hands. I just love that top photo!! And how wonderful you are going to have a special "just for two" outing to NYC. You'd better take tons of photos!! I can't wait to see.

BTW, I've been meaning to tell you... every time I see the photo of your home, it reminds me so much of my own - only in reverse. We have great taste! :-)

It must be so hard to have you children be away from you for an extended period of time. I can't imagine.

Enjoy the day with your son in NYC! What are you planning on doing? I love NYC, especially around Christmas time, but haven't been back since we moved 10 years ago (once "sighted" Donald Trump in the restaurant in the Trump tower and my cousin just about died-LOL!). Your pictures came out great!
Hugs-have a great time and say 'hi' to Lady Liberty for me.

Lisa,

Like Laura...this post seemed to warrent a more though out response...so here goes...

I am so sorry that you must endure these separations from Nick. Now that I am a mom, I cannot imagine...even though I am sure his Dad loves him. It must be difficult to do things when Nick is not there...and this is probably more noticible now that you have sweet Sarah....

I don't have any advice...I am sorry that you are feeling out of sorts...I wish I could fix it for you.....

And after a day of thinking...this is all I could come up with....pathetic....

Have the best time in NYC...I am determined to take Lia to see the windows at Christmas...a real step out for this "chick from the hicks"!

Best,

Kate

I'm glad Nick didn't change out of his uniform. These will be great photos to look back on someday and you'll remember what he wore to school:) Besides they are better than ANY school photo you'll EVER get.
I can only imagine how hard it is to be away from Nick, sorry you had two weekends in a row.
