Embracing The Fall Season!

August 20, 2008

I have decided instead of kicking and screaming about summer coming to an end....I am going to embrace the fall season. It is one of my favorite times of year. The leaves change, the weather cools a little bit, and it is time to pull out the sweaters, jeans, and boots.....one of my favorite fall looks!

Yesterday, I was able to knock off all of Nick's school shopping, we got the uniforms, the books, and the shoes....Hooray! Since we accomplished so much in one day, I decided I was going to start putting away some of my summer decor and bring out the fall stuff...nothing like a new look to boost your mood! I love changing the look of our home to match the seasons....especially for fall and Christmas.

So off I went digging in the basement....I didn't go hog wild, because I didn't have a lot of time, but I decided to start with my Pott.eryBarn jars. I purchased these last year and just love them....I keep them on my dining room table and change the fillers to go along with the seasons or holidays!
Here is a picture of our dining room....it was hard to get it at an angle that included the whole room, but this was the best I could do!

Here are the jars with my fall runner......they were wirth every penny, I have gotten some major use out of them!

I have only just begun....it is now an obsession....I can't wait to transform the rest of our house........stay tuned....I will be posting more pictures as the fall stuff comes out!

Beautiful! I'm looking forward to fall too, but first I'm going to enjoy our Indian Summer. During the actual summer here, its foggy and cold, but come September through the first week of November, its warm, clear and beautiful!

Can't wait to see what other decorations you pull out.

Your dining room is fabulous! I love the Pottery Barn jars too. I can't wait to get out all of my pumpkin stuff but it's a bit too early!

I am looking forward to seeing more pictures of your fabulous house! I am ready to move in -- do you have room for four more people?! Ha ha!

Oh..the glass jars are beautiful! We too decorate our house for the season at hand...and Fall is my favorite! It has been chilly here in the morning, but by the afternoon it is warm again...but that chill in the morning air lets you know that Fall is coming!

(I too love wearing sweaters, jeans, and my uggs...thats my look for Fall and yes, I so know uggs are so out of style, but I have been wearing them for over 12 years now....way before they were a fashion hit and I just love them...I actually gave all my girls in our wedding party 9 years ago this Sept...a pair of uggs lol!)

Very nice!
Potterybarn - my downfall! LOL!
I just bought "Sun & Sand" yankee candles. I guess, I'm not ready for fall :-) The weather we're having right now (TS Fay) reminds me of the weather up North, except we don't have the snow.
Greetings from rainy, wet and all around yucky Orlando,

Beautiful!! I applaud anyone who decorates for each season - these days, we are fortunate around here to be able to SEE certain decor underneath all the clutter! :-)

Lisa, Loving your fall time dining room table decs! I just had my hubby get all of my fall stuff down from the attic (downfall of buying a house sight unseen from Germany in a quick hurry~ having no basement STINKS!). Anyhoo~ since Bryce is back to school I plan to GET BUSY with the decorating during Caroline's naps next week. Girl, I can't WAIT! I'll have to post some pics I guess! Can't wait to see more of yours. You have a beautiful dining room! Hugs, Les (P.S. That is neat that both of our boys go to the same type of school and LOVE soccer!)

First of all, beautiful fall photo! Is that really happening in your town or is that a photo from years past? Those leaves are gorgeous! Secondly, I really love your glass jars and how you've used them in your dining room. Just charming!

I envy you. I've been in my house nearly 3 years and don't even have the entire thing painted...here you are decorating for fall - I used to do that, pre-child!

I love pottery barn...I shop there all the time. Your dining room is beautiful. I love fall too! I love all the fall colors. I have been shopping up a storm(clothes). I was just telling my dh tonight how I am celebrating fall coming by shopping a lot. Other wise I will cry that summer is ending and he wouldn't want me to cry. He said "no I wouldn't want that" LOL I would love to decorate my house for fall but at the moment it is being torn up...2 days of construction and several months to go...and I am already hating it! I just hate the mess.
