A Day In The City..

Nick and I hit the road bright and early and spent our day visiting the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island with his 5th grade class.

Ellis Island was very interesting, lots of history there. To think that some of our ancestors entered this country through the very place we stood today was incredible. I could have spent more time in there but we were on a schedule so we had to move on.

I have been to the city often, but never took the ferry over to the Statue of Liberty...it was defintely something to see! They no longer let you go all the way to the top, you are only allowed up to the base of the statue. Security is pretty tight but it was so worth it.....the view is just breathtaking....what a piece of history!

I am so glad that I took the day off to spend some quality time with Nick, we both had such a great time together. He can't wait to go back, but next time he said he would like to have more time for shopping. Unfortunately, not my kind of shopping. If I know him, he has FAO Schw@rtz on the brain....

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Lady Liberty IS breath taking! We took the ferry ride back in 2004 - it was amazing. Hubby hated the city, too many people - but said we could fly in, go to the Statue of LIberty and fly immediately out - so the kids could see her one day!! LO! Glad you & Nick had a nice time!

What fun!:) And what a blessing to spend that time with your son.

I hope one day to get to visit New York City. I have been in the airport, but I don't think that counts.;)

I didn't know that you couldn't go to the top of the Empire State Building. Ellis Island sounds like a place I could spend all day at.

Have a great rest of the weekend!
God Bless,
Amy:)

What a fun trip for his class to take. I have never actually stepped onto Ellis island only seen it by boat. My parents have a plaque on the wall in there because they emigrated from England.

By saying you no longer can get to the TOP of the statue.... exactly where could you get to in the past??? Would you be standing in her crown????

We just got back from the thousand islands a mere three hours ago, and I haven't even begun to get photos uploaded... soon I hope.
